Artificial Intelligence: The Future of Biotech

By: Sanika Patil

Brief Introduction:

In the present and the upcoming future, Biotechnology has progressed and will have progressed so much that it will help overcome global warming issues, along with the medical field. Many Artificial Intelligence(AI) trends have proven to be useful for curing certain diseases. It is the next game changer for the generation ahead of us.

Background:

Through collective research, the structures of a proteins are being determined by AI. According to Forbes news, the Alpha Fold software is the new trend for protein structures. They have created protein structures which are available on the internet and accessible to scientists. The most astonishing part was that 98% of these structures were of humans.

In the past, lab work was always scattered here and there which made it hard to find the right data. This is another scenario where AI has been successful in helping scientists with data management. CRISPR and H2O.ai are the trending sources being used for data entries.

Future Applications of AI:

  1. AI based tools are predicted to help in the development of molecules to determine the formation of various drugs and chemicals in laboratories. Through calculations made by the AI subsets helps scientists spend less time trying several processes and limits to one process. When the market is involved, AI tells which chemicals or drugs are in demand.

  1. Agricultural Biotechnology can be explored more deeply with AI tools. They help study the genetic features of the crop while comparing the quantities. Another important role is played by robotics, they call it “an arm of Artificial Intelligence”. By packaging and harvesting, it can be very useful. Weather forecasting and the availability of raw materials for agriculture is all possible by AI.

Living the “AI” Life:

If there are more algorithms like Artificial Intelligence, we can help discover more aspects of living life longer than we are right now. With a better lifestyle full of medical care and a good environment, we can live a healthier life. Doctors will not have too much load on themselves and through technology we can make it simpler and convenient for everyone. Hence, living the “AI” life is the best option for us.
